At RCR Vietnam, being a strategic partner means never settling for “good enough.”
We’re constantly looking for the smarter, more efficient way to run our clients’ operations. Even when nothing is broken.
That mindset has acted as the foundation for our long-term partnership with Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies Vietnam since 2019. Building on this partnership, we’re proud to have originated and is now delivering our first Cooling as a Service (CaaS) project, developed in collaboration with August Energy, with Trane Vietnam serving as EPC contractor. RCR Vietnam continues to oversee project delivery and long-term operation and maintenance — the same team that has run this facility for more than 7 years, now upgrading it for the next chapter of growth.
From stable operations to proactively creating value
Terumo BCT’s factory located in Dong Nai is a medical devices and blood technology products manufacturer. This facility produces automated blood collection systems used in cellular therapies and therapeutic apheresis for the treatment of cancer, congenital, and immune-related disorders. It runs 24/7 with more than 1,600 employees in highly controlled cleanroom environments. For Terumo, reliable, energy-efficient cooling isn’t optional; it’s mission-critical.
As a facility matured, aging infrastructure can lead to declining efficiency, rising maintenance costs, and increased operational risks. However, at Terumo, we saw an opportunity to transform this challenge into a smarter, more energy-efficient cooling solution. One that could reduce costs, lower carbon emissions, and ensure future-proof operations, all without requiring our client to spend a single dollar of capital.
That’s the value a real operating partner brings: not just keeping the lights on, but actively finding ways to make the whole operation better.
2,400 Water-chilled Plant
The result is a 2,400 RT (refrigeration ton) chilled-water plant delivered under a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model. This chilled-water plant will ensure reliable process cooling and precise temperature control, support cleanroom and HVAC performance, enhance product quality and production stability, reduce energy consumption and operating costs, and minimize the risk of downtime while supporting sustainability goals.
Project Highlights:
- Zero CAPEX: The BOOT model eliminates upfront capital expenditure, allowing the client to upgrade its cooling infrastructure without significant initial investment.
- Projected 58% savings on cooling energy: The upgraded chilled water plant delivers 58% savings in cooling energy consumption, significantly reducing ongoing operational costs.
- Estimated 2,778 tons of CO₂ emissions reduced annually: The improved energy efficiency reduces the plant’s carbon footprint by approximately 2,778 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.
- Long-term service agreement: A long-term service agreement supporting reliable operation, consistent cooling performance and ongoing maintenance of the chilled water plant.
This is what we mean when we say RCR delivers more than facilities management. We deliver continuous operational value. Always looking for the next upgrade, the next efficiency, the next way to help our clients run better.
Because at RCR, partnership doesn’t end at the contract; it’s what happens after, when we keep finding the upgrade our clients didn’t know they needed yet.
